Case Study · Brand Creation & Launch

Building Cahlén Studio

From founding idea to a fully realised D2C brand.

World One Consulting partnered with founder Yatika Sihag to build Cahlén Studio, a premium home lifestyle brand, from its earliest strategic foundations through to its September 2026 launch.

Over an 11-month journey, WOC worked alongside the founder across strategy, positioning, identity, sourcing, product development, commercial planning, content, e-commerce and launch execution—turning an initial idea into a live consumer brand.

Strategy is only useful when it can be executed. This project shows how we do both.

OUTCOME

From founding idea to a fully realised D2C brand and live Shopify launch.

THE BEGINNING

It started with an idea, not a finished brand.

When Yatika Sihag first began discussing Cahlén Studio with World One Consulting, the ambition was clear: create a premium home lifestyle brand built around beautiful, design-led products that could become part of people’s everyday lives.

That became WOC’s brief: help turn the founding idea into the brand.

But, as with many brands at the idea stage, the ambition raised a much larger set of questions.

  • What should the brand stand for?
  • Who exactly should it serve?
  • Where should it sit in the market?
  • What should the first product range look like?
  • Who should manufacture it?
  • How should the products be priced?
  • What should the brand look and sound like?
  • How should it reach customers?
  • And how could all of those decisions come together as a business ready to launch?

THE CHALLENGE

Building differentiation before building the brand.

The core challenge wasn't just a lack of visual assets; it was a lack of category separation. The premium home market in India was professionalising rapidly, flooded by both established international heritage brands and a new wave of venture-backed direct-to-consumer startups focused on speed and scale.

To survive, Cahlén Studio couldn't just produce beautiful linens and ceramics. It had to represent a specific lifestyle choice that the existing market wasn't addressing—one centered on the intersection of emotional connection and uncompromising craft, rather than just luxury status or functional utility.

Cahlén needed to be more than visually distinctive. It needed a point of view.

POSITIONING

Where should Cahlén sit between accessibility, premium design and emotional appeal?

LONG-TERM RELEVANCE

What could the brand own beyond a single product range or launch moment?

THE STRATEGIC IDEA

Finding Cahlén’s “Call of Home”

The breakthrough was not a logo, colour palette or campaign line. It was finding an emotional territory strong enough to connect everything Cahlén would eventually become.

THE CALL OF HOME

Cahlén was built around a simple belief: home is an emotion before it is a space. It lives in the cup that becomes part of a morning ritual, the platter brought out when people gather, the bowl associated with comfort, and the colours and objects that slowly collect memories over time. Rather than positioning home products simply as objects to decorate a space, the brand began to see them as objects that become part of people’s lives. This gave Cahlén a more meaningful role: creating design that feels refined and contemporary, but also familiar, personal and lived-in.

Colour became part of that emotional language too. Rust builds trust, feels familiar and invites togetherness. It also makes for earthy, warm spaces giving a nostalgic, natural and artisanal feel. Olive brings calm, peace and renewal which is eco-centred, timeless and authentic. It brings the feeling of sophistication, a balance between warm and cold. At Cahlén, the purpose was not to use colour decoratively, but to give it emotional meaning.

RUST - WARM AND NOSTALGIC

OLIVE - SOPHISTICATED AND CALM

“The Call of Home” became the thread connecting Cahlén’s identity, language, product storytelling, photography, content and digital experience.

BUILDING THE BRAND

Turning the idea into a coherent brand system.

Once the strategic territory was clear, the next challenge was consistency. Every part of the brand—from its identity and language to the way products were named, photographed and presented—needed to feel as though it came from the same point of view. WOC translated “The Call of Home” into a complete visual and verbal system designed to guide both launch execution and the brand’s future growth.

The objective was not to create isolated brand assets. It was to build a system that could help Cahlén make consistent decisions across every customer touchpoint.

POSITIONING

A premium, design-first home lifestyle brand built around emotional connection, timelessness and everyday use.

VISUAL IDENTITY

A refined identity system using colour, typography and visual principles to balance modernity with warmth and character.

VOICE & LANGUAGE

A tone designed to feel sophisticated, warm and emotionally present without becoming formal or overly decorative.

PRODUCT & COLLECTION NAMING

A consistent naming approach that helped products and collections feel part of one recognisable brand world.

PHOTOGRAPHY DIRECTION

Lifestyle-led imagery using natural light, texture and lived-in environments to make the products feel part of real homes.

STORYTELLING SYSTEM

A framework for translating the brand idea consistently across product pages, social content, editorial content and other communication.

One strategic idea. One brand system.

Every touchpoint working together.

PRODUCT, SOURCING & EXECUTION

Strategy moved from the presentation to the warehouse floor.

“For us, execution isn’t what happens after the strategy. It is part of the strategy.”

For Cahlén, defining the brand was only part of the job. The strategy also had to work in the real world—across products, suppliers, pricing, samples, packaging and the commercial decisions required to get the first collection ready for launch. WOC worked directly alongside the founder throughout that process, helping move the brand from strategic intent into physical execution.

The work included identifying and benchmarking potential vendors, creating the vendor evaluation framework, conducting vendor meetings, negotiating commercial terms, reviewing samples, working through pricing decisions and helping finalise the right production partners. Where the work required being on the ground, WOC was there. The team travelled with the founder to meet vendors in person, worked through product and commercial decisions at warehouses and production facilities, and remained closely involved as sampling and sourcing progressed. Packaging was developed as part of the same process so that the physical customer experience remained aligned with the positioning being created for the brand.

The result was a sourcing and product development process in which brand, product and commercial decisions were being made together—not as separate workstreams. This helped ensure that what Cahlén intended to stand for could actually be delivered through the products customers would eventually buy.

VENDOR DISCOVERY & BENCHMARKING

Identifying potential partners and evaluating them against the product, quality, commercial and brand requirements.

PRICING

Evaluating product costs and commercial realities alongside the intended market positioning.

VENDOR MEETINGS & NEGOTIATIONS

Working directly with suppliers to understand capabilities, resolve questions and negotiate commercial terms.

PACKAGING STRATEGY

Developing a packaging direction that could support both the practical needs of the product and the premium customer experience.

SAMPLING & PRODUCT REVIEW

Reviewing product samples and working through the iterations required before final selection.

VENDOR FINALISATION

Helping the founder move from a broad supplier universe to the partners best suited to bringing the launch range to market.

CREATING THE BRAND EXPERIENCE

From brand strategy to the way Cahlén showed up in the world.

Once the products, positioning and visual identity were taking shape, the next step was to turn that brand world into something customers could see and experience. WOC worked directly with the founder to plan and execute the photography, videography and launch content needed to bring Cahlén to life across its website, social channels and other customer touchpoints.

The creative direction was built around the same principles that shaped the brand itself: warmth, colour, natural light, lived-in settings and products shown as part of everyday rituals rather than as isolated objects. WOC worked alongside the founder during the shoot process, helping ensure that styling, composition, product presentation and the overall visual mood remained consistent with “The Call of Home.” The resulting assets were then used across the brand’s website, social content and launch communication so that customers encountered the same visual and emotional world wherever they discovered Cahlén.

“The visual world had to feel like the brand—not simply look beautiful.”

CREATIVE DIRECTION

PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY

Translating the brand strategy into a clear visual direction for photography and video.

Creating polished product imagery that could communicate detail, quality and design clearly across e-commerce.

LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHY

Showing Cahlén products in warm, lived-in settings that reflected the emotional positioning of the brand.

VIDEOGRAPHY

Creating moving visual content for launch storytelling, social media and brand communication.

FOUNDER CONTENT

Capturing the founder’s voice and perspective as part of the brand’s introduction to customers.

LAUNCH CONTENT

Building a bank of visual and editorial assets that could support the brand from pre-launch through its initial launch period.

BUILDING THE STORE

Making the strategy shoppable.

A brand is not launch-ready until customers can experience it clearly, understand the products and buy with confidence. For Cahlén, WOC translated the brand strategy, product architecture and content system into a complete Shopify experience designed around how customers would discover, understand and shop the collection.

“The brand wasn’t complete when the identity was approved. It was complete when a customer could experience and buy it.”

Using a premium Shopify theme selected and purchased by the client, WOC created the store architecture and built the customer journey across collections, product pages, brand content and support pages. The work included structuring product pages, creating and linking Shopify metafields for custom product information, uploading the full product catalogue, writing and formatting product titles and descriptions, adding imagery, creating SEO titles and meta descriptions, and building the supporting pages required for a complete e-commerce experience. WOC also created the brand and policy content needed across pages such as About Us, Contact Us and store policies. Once the store was ready, the Cahlén team was trained on how to edit products, manage content, add new information and troubleshoot common website changes independently.

STORE ARCHITECTURE

Creating the structure through which customers would navigate the Cahlén brand, collections and products.

CUSTOM PRODUCT DATA

Creating and linking Shopify metafields so product-specific information could be displayed consistently across the store.

SEO CONTENT

Creating product and page SEO titles and descriptions to establish a search-ready foundation for the new store.

TEAM ENABLEMENT

Training the Cahlén team to manage, edit and troubleshoot the website after launch.

The result was not simply a website designed for launch. It was a working e-commerce system that Cahlén’s own team could continue to manage as the catalogue and business evolved.

PRODUCT PAGE SYSTEM

Designing a consistent product-page layout that could communicate product information clearly while remaining aligned with the brand.

CATALOGUE BUILD

Uploading and structuring product information, imagery, titles and descriptions across the website.

BRAND & SUPPORT PAGES

Building the supporting content required for a credible e-commerce experience, including brand, contact and policy pages.

FROM IDEA TO LAUNCH

From founding idea to a live consumer brand.

Eleven months after the first conversations began, Cahlén Studio launched in September 2026. By that point, the founding idea had been translated into a complete premium home lifestyle brand—with a clear strategic position, a distinctive identity, a developed product and vendor ecosystem, launch-ready visual content and a live Shopify store.

LAUNCH

11 MONTHS

The outcome was not simply a finished identity or completed website. Cahlén entered the market with the core pieces of the business working together: positioning, product, sourcing, visual identity, content and commerce. That integration mattered because customers would never experience those elements as separate workstreams. They would experience one brand.

First conversations to launch

For new brand-building engagements, timelines typically range from 9–12 months depending on product readiness, development complexity and approval timelines.

The transformation itself was the result.

The project demonstrated what happens when brand strategy, product decisions, execution and launch planning are developed as one connected process rather than handed from one specialist to another.

For founder Yatika Sihag, the journey was not simply about developing a brand identity. It was about having a partner alongside her through the many decisions required to turn an early-stage idea into a functioning consumer brand.

“World One Consulting guided me through every stage of setting up the brand, helped me avoid so many mistakes, and gave me clarity when I felt stuck.”

“When I started building Cahlén, I had a vision but I knew I needed the right guidance to bring it to life. Choosing World One Consulting and working with Bindu and Hans has honestly been one of the best decisions I made. They guided me through every stage of setting up the brand, helped me avoid so many mistakes, and gave me clarity when I felt stuck. Building a brand can be overwhelming, but with their support, the journey became so much more structured and enjoyable. I’m genuinely grateful for everything I’ve learnt from them and I truly don’t think I would have reached this stage without World One.”

HOW WE WORK

Building a brand requires more than branding.

A founder rarely arrives with a neatly packaged branding problem. They arrive with interconnected decisions about customers, positioning, products, vendors, pricing, identity, content, technology, operations and launch. World One Consulting works across those decisions with them.

We don’t just tell founders what should be done. We work alongside them to get it done.

STRATEGY WITH CONSEQUENCE

We build strategy around the decisions a founder will actually need to make—from positioning and pricing to sourcing, content and commerce.

EXECUTION ALONGSIDE THE FOUNDER

Where the work requires vendor meetings, product reviews, commercial decisions, content production or store setup, we stay involved.

ONE CONNECTED BRAND

Product, identity, language, content and commerce should not evolve as separate workstreams. We help keep them working from the same strategic foundation.

Cahlén Studio is one example of that model in practice: a founder began with an ambition, and WOC helped connect the strategic, creative, commercial and operational decisions required to bring the brand to market.

BUILDING FOR INDEPENDENCE

The goal is not to make the founder permanently dependent on WOC. We build systems, processes and capabilities that the brand’s own team can continue to manage as it grows.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Have the idea, but not yet the complete roadmap?

Many founders begin with a strong instinct about the product, category or opportunity they want to pursue. What they often do not yet have is a clear sequence for turning that idea into a brand that can actually launch. That journey involves far more than naming or visual identity. It requires decisions across market positioning, product development, sourcing, pricing, brand creation, content, commerce and launch planning. World One Consulting works alongside founders through that process.

9–12 MONTHS

Typical timeline from early-stage idea to launch-ready consumer brand.

The exact timeline depends on factors such as product readiness, sourcing and development complexity, speed of approvals, content production requirements and e-commerce readiness. 9–12 months is a general guideline, not a guarantee or speed claim.

STARTING FROM AN IDEA

For founders who have identified a product, category or opportunity but need help shaping the strategy, brand, product ecosystem and launch plan.

LAUNCHING SOMETHING NEW

For existing consumer or retail businesses entering a new category, creating a new brand or developing a new direct-to-consumer proposition.

THE CONNECTED WOC JOURNEY

MARKET & POSITIONING   →   PRODUCT & SOURCING   →   PRICING & COMMERCIAL THINKING   →   BRAND STRATEGY & IDENTITY   →   CONTENT & CREATIVE DIRECTION   →   E-COMMERCE   →   LAUNCH PLANNING

The starting point can be an idea. The roadmap does not have to be complete yet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions founders often ask us.

What did World One Consulting do for Cahlén Studio?

World One Consulting worked with Cahlén Studio from the early idea stage through launch. The engagement covered market and brand strategy, positioning, identity, product and collection thinking, vendor discovery and benchmarking, vendor meetings and commercial negotiations, sampling, pricing, packaging strategy, photography and videography, Shopify store creation, catalogue setup, SEO content, launch content and team training. The objective was to keep the strategic, creative, commercial and operational decisions connected as the brand moved towards launch.

Can World One Consulting help build a brand from the idea stage?

Yes. WOC works with founders who may have a strong idea, product opportunity or category in mind but do not yet have the complete roadmap for turning it into a launch-ready brand. Depending on the project, WOC can work across market positioning, product and sourcing, pricing, brand strategy and identity, content, e-commerce and launch planning.

How long does it typically take to build and launch a new consumer brand?

For an early-stage consumer brand, a typical journey from initial strategy through launch can take approximately 9–12 months. The exact timeline depends on factors such as product readiness, sourcing complexity, sampling and development requirements, speed of approvals, content production and e-commerce readiness. Cahlén Studio moved from its first conversations with WOC to launch in approximately 11 months.

Does World One Consulting only advise founders, or does WOC also execute?

WOC works beyond strategy. Where the engagement requires execution, the team can work directly alongside founders across areas such as vendor meetings, sourcing decisions, commercial negotiations, product reviews, photography and content production, e-commerce setup and launch preparation. The exact level of involvement depends on the agreed project scope.

Can World One Consulting help with product sourcing and vendor development?

Yes, where sourcing is part of the engagement. For Cahlén Studio, WOC directly led vendor discovery and benchmarking, vendor meetings, commercial discussions, sampling reviews, pricing work, packaging strategy and vendor finalisation, including working with the founder in person at vendor and warehouse locations.

Can World One Consulting build the e-commerce store as part of a brand launch?

Yes, where e-commerce is included in the engagement. For Cahlén Studio, WOC created the Shopify store architecture, product page system, custom metafields, catalogue setup, product and collection content, SEO titles and descriptions, brand and support pages, and store policies. The store was built using a premium Shopify theme purchased by the client, and WOC subsequently trained the Cahlén team to manage and update the website independently.

Does World One Consulting only work with brands in India?

No. WOC works with founders and consumer businesses across markets. Cahlén Studio is an India-based premium home lifestyle brand, but WOC’s brand-building and launch work is not limited to India.

Who is this type of engagement best suited for?

This type of engagement is particularly relevant for founders who have identified a product, category or business opportunity but need help turning that idea into a coherent and launch-ready brand. It can also be relevant for established consumer or retail businesses launching a new brand, entering a new category or developing a new direct-to-consumer proposition.
